Sheri Ramsey Art Studio

Sheri Ramsey paints with pastel. She paints in the Midwestern and Southwestern states, Italy, France and extensively in Springfield, Illinois. Color is the element that interests her the most as you can see reflected in the paintings shown here. The colors might be exaggerated but the feeling of place is what she captures. She also enjoys the drama of high contrast and the excitement of the pastel strokes themselves. She likes the strokes to mirror the textures of the landscape and architecture of her chosen subjects. These patterns and contrasts move your eyes across the image on meandering paths. She has painted landscapes in all the following places, with barns in Michigan, grasses on the prairie of Illinois, stone walls of Italy and the beautiful shuttered houses of France. Her work is in collections across the United States, Europe and Asia. She teaches pastel at the Springfield Art Association and will be teaching a workshop in Central France, May 26-June 7, 2004. Check out her articles in “The Artist’s Magazine,” August 2001 and “The Pastel Journal,” February/March 2003.
